It seems like I am always talking about the size of office furniture. We are locked in a search for specific office furniture pieces that fits their needs. This is especially true with our need for office desks. While I could give generalizations such as an executive always needs a large desk to fill out the bigger office, or a startup needs smaller desks to conserve space. It’s not my place to assume why you need a particular size. Writing about office furniture as much as I do, makes me tend to create the situation why you would need a particular sized desk. So today, instead, I want to do something a little different. I want to show you the wide range of small desks that are found on the online marketplace of Madison Liquidators without the presumption of why you need it.

Small desks are great because they allow space savings without resorting to the communal spacing of office cubicles. They allow for an open space without partitions blocking sightlines and natural light from windows. They check off a lot of boxes when it comes to providing a workspace for an office worker. If you have read any of my office furniture writings before you will know that I always caution about a smaller size because it can limit the type of work that an office worker can do. However, we aren’t getting into that today. I know many people are seeking out small desks these days, and if they are what you are looking for, then I am sure you have already weighed the pros and the cons.

This is simply about the variety of small desks that you can find throughout our marketplace. If you land on our home page and perform a search for “small desk” as of this writing you will have more than two hundred options to look at from nine different brand partners. The number of options for this office furniture tells me that our partners are investing time and resources into making a multitude of small desk options because they are in such demand. But where would we start out of two hundred? Looking at small desks, they can’t be that different… right? You will be surprised!

#1-Small Desk Shell

Bare bones that’s where we have started. A frame of some sort with a desktop for working, nothing more, nothing less. Across the four examples I have shared, the smallest version of each is roughly 48” x 24” which is an extremely small size. At 24” wide, I wouldn’t expect to put a full desktop computer on top and work comfortably at all. Space will be restricted if you go that route with the exception of adding on the options. Those options specifically being the keyboard tray and monitor arms. This takes both off the desktop freeing up a few inches but even still, I would encourage anyone who is planning on working beyond anything more than a laptop to move up to a 30” wide small desk option, I know I said I would keep my opinions out, but I would hate for someone to be stuck with a small desk that is not enough desk.

Each of these options come from a different brand partner. These are name brand small desks from Harmony Collection, Office Star Products, Boss Office Products, and Cherryman. Each of these small desk shells are built to the highest of industry standards with commercial grade laminates that are backed by manufacturer’s warranties that provide the purchaser peace of mind when making such a significant investment. Not to mention those finishes on the commercial grade laminate! They are attractive options for any office that will last for years to come due to their strength and construction.

#2- Small Desk with Drawers/Storage

Most office workers could use a little storage at the desk, even when working at a small desk. Without purchasing external storage, a drawer is the best option for storage for a small desk. We aren’t really going to find a secondary credenza or overhead hutch to pair with a small desk without a secondary purchase. But adding a drawer or two can transform the small desk into a fully functional workstation that can serve for many years to come.

The options I selected are a unique collection of traditional and modern designs. This truly shows the range that can be found within the bazaar of Madison Liquidators. These small desk options provide a workstation that has a place for everything, and if they are what you are looking for then they are perfect aren’t they? These also average the same size on the low end as the previous group and also come in many attractive finishes. You can also expect to find a quality manufacturer’s warranty with each small desk with drawers option.

#3- Standing Small Desk

“You say you want a revolution” sings the Beatles, and this is a revolution! I have championed standing desks since day one, and will do so now with small desk versions. Having the ability to switch from a sitting to a standing position adds a new dimension to office work that positively impacts the overall health of an office worker, so why not look to a standing small desk if it’s right for you? A small desk that improves quality of life seems like a home run to me… but is it for you?

Keeping with the small desk theme, these standing options start at 48” x 24” but again, anything more than a laptop and I strongly suggest going to a larger option. Small desks with a standing option is a big step in a new direction that transcend your professional life. Most standing small desks have between a two hundred to two hundred and fifty pound weight limit. This means that whatever you need to place on the desktop the adjustment motor will be able to handle the load.

#4-L shaped Small Desk

Modern L Shaped Desk With Hutch

L shaped small desks are available options but will require more space than a traditional rectangular desk. So if you are looking for a L shaped desk but need it smaller for some reason, Madison Liquidators has got you. Out of the four that I selected as examples, they are each distinct from the next. This allows you freedom to really customize your space by need, even when it comes to a small desk. We have peninsula fronts, glass modesty panel fronts, standing small desk, and extreme storage options on L shaped small desks. The online marketplace has all the top models from our most trusted brand partners.

Conclusion

When it comes to small desks, Madison Liquidators is where to find them. No matter what your situation is, there are more than two hundred options to choose from, each from a leading brand in the office furniture industry. When buying from Madison Liquidators, you know that you are receiving a world class piece of office furniture that is backed by a strong manufacturer’s warranty.
